Explanation of 3dsMax's automatic pose alignment:
Before performing automatic pose alignment, we will first take a screenshot of the 3dsMax viewport. The screenshot should be a clear and frontal view of a face as it will be used for face recognition. It is recommended that you do this in the front view and with the face model selected when you click the Import button. This will allow us to accurately locate the position of the face. Please refer to the image below, which shows the front view with the grid display turned off for face recognition. (The model should be selected, not a group.)
Once the above conditions are met, click the "Import" button. Facial recognition is performed, and if there are no errors, the controllers are imported and positioned on the model.
At this point, automatic pose alignment has not been performed. To see the effect of automatic pose alignment, simply click the "Auto Set Loc" button. You will see the results of the pose alignment. However, before proceeding with this step, it is recommended that you watch our video tutorial, as this tutorial only covers the correct use of the "Import" button.
